How trainers can build online credibility to attract potential students?4
Even though you are an excellent trainer or your institute has the best trainers, the main challenge is still attracting potential students. As a general practice, you will list the courses and the content list of each course. I am not saying that is wrong, but I want to ask you a question – what else you can offer to the potential students? Here are some things you can do to build your online credibility.
Showcase your experience: including how many years you have been working or training in a specific area. I know you may not want to show your list of clients and employer names, but still you can still list the industries. For example, “ I have twelve years of experience in SAP Basis and have served various companies from industries that include finance, consumer goods, automobiles.”
LinkedIn profile: Nowadays, your profile is not secret anymore, it is very public. You need to make sure you have the proper information on your LinkedIn profile. Another important thing to remember is your number of social connections is a social currency, which can give credibility to students about your experience – the more connections the better.
Blogging: Blogging is way to express what you know. The most common question I hear is “What to blog about?” Well, to name a few, you can blog about your past experiences, trends in your expertise area, why students should learn specific IT skills, what the future trends in that area are expected to be, an so on and so forth.
Videos: It is true that few minutes of a video presentation can literally double your credibility. Video can be about a topic of your expertise or about a solution to a common problem. One of the concerns I hear quite often is whether or not the instructor should show their face. Well, I would say to not worry so much about that. You don’t have to show your face, instead, use screen capture software to record your screen while you are explaining the details. If you are concerned about your voice, well you don’t have to worry about that either. However, if you’re still not comfortable, you can always type text on the recorded screens and not talk.
